Instructions
for importing your sales leads into Excel.
Step One -
Retrieve
File:
-
Open
Excel.
-
Click
File Menu,
click Open.

Change
to location of your file - directory or drive (i.e.: A:).

Change
"Files of Type" to Text Files (.txt).

Select
your file (the name will contain your company name and booth
number).

Click
Open.
-
The
Text Import Wizard will open (3 Steps).
Step
Two - Import
Into
Excel:
-
The
Text Import Wizard is now open (3 Steps).

Step
One - verify DELIMITED is checked, click NEXT.

Step
Two - uncheck TAB, check COMMA (text will fall into columns
in the preview window), click NEXT.

Step
Three - using
the scroll bar, scroll the preview window all the way to the
right. Press and hold down the shift key. CLICK on
the last column in the preview window. This should
turn all the columns black. Change "Column data format" to
"Text", click FINISH.

Click
File Menu, click Save As.

If
importing file into another database program OR creating Letters
or Labels, change
"Save as type" to Text (tab delimited), click Save.

If
creating a database for Excel, change
"Save as type" to Microsoft Excel Workbook, click
Save.
