CompuSystems Launches Green Initiative

Broadview, IL – January 12, 2008 - Once considered a fringe issue, saving the environment has moved to the mainstream and changed our every-day terminology to include words such as hybrid vehicles, corporate responsibility, recyclable, sustainable products, and the paperless office. The list goes on.

At CompuSystems, Inc. (CSI), corporate responsibility is not a new idea. For years they’ve worked internally to decrease their corporate footprint through a recycling program. Now, with the formation of its Green Committee – which evaluates and improves the company’s goals to eliminate waste and recycle – CSI is working to boost services and products offerings before, during and after a show, at the same time supporting efforts to improve the environment for future generations.

As part of this commitment, CSI has undertaken the following internal initiatives:
  • It has converted to high efficiency lighting with bulbs that require 60% less electricity and last twice as long as their predecessors
  • It uses recycled paper for sales materials
  • It uses remanufactured toner cartridges
  • Its payroll system is 100% electronic
  • It recycles all internally generated paper and excess client collateral materials
  • It uses recycled CD covers
  • It uses biodegradable cleaning agents

“Internally, CSI is integrating sustainable and recyclable products into the corporate environment. By working with our local disposal company, installing programmable thermostats, and using compact fluorescent bulbs, we hope to conserve natural resources and energy, reduce our corporate footprint, and assist in improving the environment.” said Kahle Williams, vice president of marketing and chairman of CSI’s Green Committee.

CSI also set actions externally to increase efficiency and competitiveness, while improving services pre-show, onsite, and post-show. CSI is supporting the move to become greener by:
  • Offering recycled badge stock
  • Offering a Credential Recycling Solution – partnering with a recycling company to dispose of badges/badge holders and lanyards post-show
  • Eliminating the need to mail badge credentials in advance of the trade show with its Express Badge Pickup service; registrants simply pick up their badge when they get to the trade show
  • Offering exhibitors paperless lead retrieval systems
  • Continuing to enhance its BuyerConnect service for exhibitors to electronically promote their product and services, allowing for reduction of paper usage
  • Committing resources to CSI’s internet environment to encourage online registration, replacing the traditional methods of mailing and faxing printed forms

“CompuSystems is walking the talk by adopting a culture of corporate responsibility. And by being proactive, we’re also providing opportunities for show organizers, exhibitors and attendees to be globally responsible in their trade show activities,” said Williams.

CompuSystems is a full-service registration provider for the exposition industry, offering a broad range of services for show organizers, exhibitors and attendees. CSI’s mission is to help its customers achieve their best possible trade show experience by providing innovative technology, products and services, backed by the most experienced professionals in the industry.
